Geometallurgical Detailing of Plant Operation within Open-Pit Strategic Mine Planning

Mineral and metallurgical processing are crucial within the mineral value chain. These processes involve several stages wherein comminution is arguably most important due to its high energy consumption, impact on subsequent extractive processes. Several geological properties of orebody efficiency metallurgy; scholars have therefore proposed deal with uncertain ore feed in terms grades rock types, incorporating operational modes that represent different plant configurations provide coordinated system-wide responses. Even though these studies offer insights into how mine planning impacts fed plant, simultaneous optimization plan design has been limited by existing stochastic algorithms, which only support for detailing modes. The present work offers fill this gap open-pit mines through a computationally efficient adaptation strategic algorithm. incorporates linear programming representation forms Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition, nested high-performing algorithm based variable neighborhood descent metaheuristic. Sample calculations presented, loosely Mount Isa deposit Australia, upgrade evaluated, showing upgraded significantly decreases requirement mining equipment, without affecting NPV.
